Project Overview
AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) are the backbone of modern factory logistics — but their value is only realized when they are intelligently managed. Our Japanese manufacturing client had deployed multiple AGVs but relied on manual dispatch, leading to inefficiencies, idle vehicles, and material backlogs during peak production hours.
iPlus Solution was engaged to design and deliver a centralized AGV Control System that would bring all vehicles under unified, real-time management — and do so within an 8-month project timeline.
Architecture & Technology
The system is built around a C#.NET core that continuously evaluates task queues and vehicle states, dispatching routing commands based on preconfigured priority rules and floor layout parameters.
- MQTT protocol for sub-second, bidirectional communication between the control server and all AGVs
- MySQL database for persistent storage of routing history, vehicle states, and operational event logs
- AWS-hosted backend ensuring industrial-grade uptime and remote manageability
- JavaScript / Bootstrap operator dashboard for real-time floor visualization and manual override capability
Delivery & Results
The project was delivered on schedule within 8 months. From the first week in production, all material transport on the client's factory floor transitioned from manual to fully automated. The Japanese partner reported outstanding satisfaction — measuring improvements in throughput consistency, significant reductions in transport incidents, and a faster overall production cycle.
This project exemplifies iPlus's cross-border delivery model: senior Vietnamese engineers working in tight coordination with the Japanese client team, communicating in both English and Japanese to ensure technical decisions aligned precisely with operational requirements.
Challenge
A Japanese manufacturing partner needed a reliable system to manage and coordinate multiple Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) on the factory floor, replacing slow, error-prone manual material transport with a fully automated, centrally controlled solution.
Solution
iPlus Solution developed a comprehensive AGV Control System using C#.NET, enabling real-time vehicle management based on preconfigured routing parameters. The system uses MQTT — the industry standard protocol for machine-to-machine communication — to ensure sub-second command delivery across all AGVs. A MySQL database records all movement history and operational logs, while the AWS-hosted backend provides the scalability and uptime guarantees required for factory operations. The web-based operator dashboard was built with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Bootstrap for clarity and ease of use.
Results
Delivered within 8 months, the AGV Control System replaced all manual material transport on the production floor. The Japanese partner reported significant improvements in throughput consistency, a dramatic reduction in transport errors, and exceptional overall satisfaction with the operational transformation.
